Holiday Cancellations - Where Do I Stand?

Holiday Travelling
It is every holiday goer's worst nightmare, you are about to pack your suitcases and then get news of flights being cancelled natural disaster. Having booked your ideal holiday using your Diamond Resorts Points (DRI Points), you have been looking forward to getting away from it all, only to find out that it is not as easy as that – your flight has been cancelled. The only thing more heart-wrenching than discovering that your flight is cancelled before departure is if you are already at your destination. Whilst, being stranded in your dream holiday resort might not seem like a bad proposition for some, making the extra arrangements coupled with the additional outlay can be quite a pain. But unfortunately these things happen – so where do you stand if they do?In April 2010 Europe ground to a halt as the Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajökull erupted, pumping thick clouds of ash into the atmosphere. The eruption was highly disruptive cancelling many flights across the continent closing airports, leaving thousands of holiday makers without an outbound flight to their holiday destination.Quite beside the logistical nightmare of working your own way back home, the question on most people's minds was with what would happen to the costs of flights and who would field it. In the case of the volcano many had to rely on their insurance, which in situations like that is never desirable with volcanic eruptions being classified as an "act of God" and not always covered by policies.
